Something we are very familiar with here in Ireland are 'Na Gearróg a Dubha' / The Short Dark Days of Winter. 'Gearróg' in Irish means a short bit or a scrap of something, there's no actual word for day in this Irish phrase, so a more literal translation would be the 'short dark', that's all that's needed to describe an Irish winter.

I started this project to re-kindle my own relationship to the Irish language, a language I spent many years learning in school and now I want to share the passion I have with this language with others.

Every effort has been made to ensure the meaning, spelling and pronunciation of the Irish words are correct. The pronounciation is based on the Munster dialiect which I am familiar with.
