Buíóg - Yellow Hammer Bird - Irish Print

'Buíóg' / Yellow Hammer Bird

This word is a special one! During the Fringe Fest 2015 I adopted an Irish word as part of a performance installation done by Manchán Magan. 'Buíóg' I still have the small card I got that day. 'Buíóg' is the name for a beautiful Irish bird, the yellowhammer. I adopted this word in hopes to keep it alive and its my job to share it with the world. I hope with this illustration together we can keep the name of this bird in use.

--------------------- About this Project ---------------------

I started this project to re-kindle my own relationship to the Irish language, a language I spent many years learning in school and now I want to share the passion I have with this language with others.

Every effort has been made to ensure the meaning, spelling and pronunciation of the Irish words are correct. The sounded out pronunciation is only a rough guideline to help with speaking the words.
